United States President Donald Trump said Tuesday he held a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirming their alignment on key regional issues, including trade and Iran’s nuclear program. “The call went very well — We are on the same side of every issue,” Trump wrote on his social media platform. The renewed U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, which began earlier this month in Oman and continued in Rome, are expected to resume this week.

6.3 magnitude earthquake hits near Indonesia’s Talaud Island

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the southern Philippines, near Indonesia’s Talaud Islands in North Sulawesi province. The quake took place at 17.17 Jakarta time (1017GMT), and was at a depth of 128 kilometers (79.5 miles). The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake’s epicenter was located 269 kilometers southeast of Pondaguitan, in the Mindanao region, and occurred at a depth of approximately 117 kilometers. Southeast Asia witnesses many strong earthquakes.
