Slovenian Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, stating that his comments reflect “a deep ignorance of Palestinian history.”
Speaking from Lebanon, where she is currently visiting the Middle East, Fajon joined a local Slovenian radio program to respond to Trump’s recent statements.
Fajon’s remarks reflect Slovenia’s firm opposition to Trump’s controversial plan, highlighting concerns that it could lead to increased violence and instability in the region. Slovenia continues to strongly advocate for a two-state solution and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Fajon noted the region was "shocked" by Trump’s comments, which she believes demonstrate a lack of understanding of Palestinian history and the region's geopolitical realities. She emphasized that Palestinians have completely rejected Trump’s statements.
She called Trump’s proposal "unacceptable" and expressed concerns that it could lead to further unrest and violence in the region.
Fajon stated Slovenia would push for stronger political action within the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the issue. She reaffirmed Slovenia’s commitment to the two-state solution and to achieving lasting peace in the region, saying, "No one can forcibly change borders. We will continue to insist on a two-state solution and lasting peace.”
