An explosion at a gas station in Chechnya's capital Grozny killed four people, including two children, and injured five others on Saturday, according to the Emergency Situations Ministry.

The explosion occurred on Mohammed Ali Avenue, completely destroying the gas station and damaging a nearby apartment building and several vehicles. A fire resulting from the blast spread over an area of approximately 900 square meters but was quickly brought under control.

Rescue teams are currently clearing rubble from the site. "The fire has been eliminated at the moment. Unfortunately, four people died, two of them children," the ministry reported.

Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, stated on Telegram that he is personally overseeing the rescue operations and the investigation launched by Chechnya's Attorney General's Office regarding the incident.

The official cause of the explosion has been attributed to "provision of services that do not meet safety requirements."
