In a seismic event that rattled the China-Kyrgyzstan border, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck early Tuesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake, recorded just after 2:00 a.m. (18:00 GMT Monday), had its epicenter located at a depth of 27 kilometers (17 miles) in China's Xinjiang region. The affected area lies approximately 140 kilometers west of the city of Aksu.
The tremor was also felt across the Central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
There were no reports of damage or causalities so far.
