North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a test-launch of strategic cruise missiles and ordered full readiness for a potential nuclear strike to strengthen the country's defense capabilities, according to state media.
The test, conducted on Wednesday over the sea off the west coast of the Korean peninsula, aimed to warn "enemies" and demonstrate North Korea’s nuclear readiness.
Kim stressed the importance of powerful deterrence and defense to safeguard national sovereignty.
South Korea’s military tracked the missile launches and detected signs of preparation. North Korea has been developing cruise missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Despite diplomatic talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, Kim’s rhetoric against the U.S. and South Korea remains harsh.
