Israel's Defense Minister issues a stern warning to Iran as Israel and Greek Cyprus conduct joint exercises simulating a potential strike on Iran

Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has issued a stern warning to Iran, threatening undisclosed retaliatory measures if the country attacks Israel.

Gallant convened with his country's troops in northern Israel as tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv escalated.

Highlighting the vulnerability of multiple fronts under attack, Gallant asserted Israel's readiness to retaliate against any assault on its soil swiftly.

"No matter where in the Middle East, we know how to respond decisively to those who attack Israeli territories," he stated.

Gallant emphasized Israel's capability for effective responses, adding: "One of the things we have been successful at for years is ensuring our enemies never know what surprises we have in store for them."

In a joint exercise simulating a potential attack on Iran, the air forces of Israel and the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus conducted drills.

As reported by the Israel Defense Forces radio, the exercise took place in the last few days and was designed to prepare for a potential strike against Iran.

It was noted that Israel had suspended all exercises six months ago due to engagements in Gaza and Lebanon but had resumed drills recently amid threats from Tehran.

Israel previously conducted an airstrike on April 1st targeting the consulate building in Damascus housing the Iranian embassy, resulting in the death of seven Iranian officials, including two generals from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran swiftly pledged retaliation, holding the U.S. partially responsible for the attack.

“When they attacked our consulate area, it was like they attacked our territory,” Khamenei said, in remarks broadcast by Iranian state TV, adding that “the evil regime must be punished and it will be punished.” 

Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz reiterated on April 10 via social media platform X that any attack on Israel from Iranian territories would prompt targeting Iran.

U.S. President Joe Biden also assured "ironclad" support for Israel against potential Iranian threats in his statement on April 10.

During a phone call with Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed full support for Israel against the threats posed by Iran and its proxy groups in the region.

Israel's Security Cabinet to convene 

According to a report by Axios citing two Israeli officials, General Michael Erik Kurilla, the Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), is scheduled to visit Israel today to discuss Iranian threats against Israel.

Israel's security cabinet is set to convene at 7:30 p.m. local time today to address the cease-fire with Hamas, potential prisoner exchangs and the looming threat of retaliation from Iran.
