Brazil highlights importance of multilateral efforts in global challenges

Brazil's foreign minister calls for peaceful solutions to the conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine during the G-20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Rio de Janeiro

During the G-20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira emphasized Wednesday the urgent need for peaceful resolutions to conflicts in Ukraine and Palestine.

Vieira expressed deep concern over the global proliferation of disputes and questioned how challenges like poverty, inequality, and environmental preservation could be addressed without ensuring conditions of peace and cooperation.

He stressed Brazil's readiness to contribute to reducing international tensions but highlighted the inadequacy of multilateral organizations, including the United Nations Security Council, in addressing current challenges. 

Additionally, Vieira pointed out the surge in global military spending, the insufficient aid allocation to poor countries, and climate change.
