Türkiye's TUBITAK SAGE and Aselsan have successfully tested the GOZDE Guidance Kit, which hit a high-speed moving target with pinpoint accuracy during an F-16 test launch, according to a statement from Aselsan.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir also announced the development on social media, emphasizing Türkiye's commitment to enhancing national security through advanced defense projects.
"The GOZDE Guidance Kit’s test launch from an F-16 successfully struck a high-speed target, making it the fastest and most precise guidance kit in Türkiye to date," Kacir stated.
The test demonstrated the system’s advanced precision strike capabilities, as a fast-moving vehicle target was marked using an electro-optical laser designator and successfully neutralized by GOZDE's integrated sensor guidance system.
Developed jointly by TUBITAK SAGE and Aselsan, the GOZDE Guidance Kit converts MK-82 general-purpose bombs into precision-guided munitions. It utilizes an integrated INS/GPS and Laser Seeker guidance system, allowing both fixed and moving target engagement with high accuracy.
The kit offers significant strategic advantages by eliminating the need for continuous laser designation, enabling a "fire-and-forget" capability when GPS coordinates are preloaded.
This feature allows pilots and UAV operators to maintain a focus on broader operational awareness rather than manually tracking the target until impact.
The GOZDE system is compatible with multiple platforms, including F-16 fighter jets and Bayraktar Akinci UCAVs, providing significant operational flexibility.
Key advantages of the system include:
The system also improves Türkiye's defense industry by offering a cost-effective, domestically produced alternative to imported guided munitions.
The introduction of the GOZDE Guidance Kit marks a significant milestone in Türkiye’s defense technology landscape, strengthening the country’s military capabilities.
Aselsan and TUBITAK SAGE's success in developing this next-generation system is expected to enhance Türkiye's global competitiveness in precision-guided munitions.
With its ability to engage both stationary and high-speed moving targets, GOZDE provides a strategic advantage to the Turkish Armed Forces.
