Russian President Vladimir Putin called President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing gratitude to the Turkish President for fostering the amicable progression of Türkiye-Russia relations and acknowledging the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, the Directorate of Communications confirmed Monday.

In a warm gesture, Putin congratulated Erdogan on his birthday during the call.

The call follows a revision in the schedule for Putin's anticipated visit to Türkiye.

Initially planned for Feb.12, Moscow announced a postponement of the visit.

Reuters, citing Russian media, reported that the rescheduled visit might occur in late April or early May.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov stressed that there is no definitive postponement but ongoing discussions to set a new date.

Putin's forthcoming visit to Türkiye is expected to reinforce this partnership further, thereby elevating the strategic significance of their relationship on the international stage.
