Turkish and Russian forces conducted a joint patrol in northern Syria, where the Turkish military deployed its latest armored vehicle, the PARS IV 6x6. The advanced vehicle, developed by FNSS, was on display during the patrol, showcasing Turkish military capabilities in the region. The joint patrol was conducted under the framework of a Turkish-Russian memorandum of understanding.
The Presidency of Defense Industries and FNSS collaborated to produce the PARS IV 6x6 as part of the "6x6 Mine-Resistant Vehicle Procurement Project." Security forces officially received it at the end of 2022.
Developed by FNSS, the PARS IV 6x6 is an advanced armored vehicle tailored for special operations. Its combination of mobility and protection makes it well-suited for various missions in difficult environments. This state-of-the-art vehicle has the following standout features:
FNSS Pars is the general name given to tactical wheeled armored combat vehicles and armored personnel carriers produced by Ankara-based FNSS. It is named after the Anatolian pars (Anatolian Leopard), a symbol of power. Pars III 6×6 has a maximum loaded weight of 25,000 kilograms and a crew capacity of nine. It has a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) on land and 10 km/h on water. FNSS Pars is actively used by the armies of Libya, Oman, Malaysia and Turkiye. Kosovo is expected to purchase the Pars armored vehicle soon.
The Pars III 6×6 FSV, weighing 25 tons, features a diesel engine capable of reaching speeds of 100 km/h. It can maneuver on steep (60%) and side (30%) slopes, cross obstacles up to 70 centimeters high, and traverse ditches up to 175 centimeters long.
The vehicle’s balanced design and engine placement result in evenly distributed axle loads, providing features such as smooth movement even on rough terrain, increased road grip at high speeds, and short braking distances. Differential locks on each axle and a central tire inflation system allow the driver to adjust tire pressures for different terrain conditions.
Equipped with the highest wheel clearance in its class, the fully independent hydro-pneumatic suspension system ensures optimal road grip in various conditions for the Pars III 6×6 FSV.
The vehicle can accommodate up to nine personnel comfortably, with doors and hatches, personnel seats, machine gun mounts, and interior lighting designed for crew comfort. The Pars III 6×6 has a range exceeding 800 kilometers and special measures for fuel tank protection against explosions and penetrations. It also includes an armored reserve fuel tank for emergencies. Solid discs inside the wheels enable the vehicle to continue moving even with a punctured tire.
The modular armor system of the Pars III 6×6 allows users to customize the protection level as needed. The design of its body shape, underbelly structure, floor plates, and specially developed mine-protected seats shield the personnel from high-level mine threats.
