Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the participants at the BRICS+ session organized on the margins of the BRICS foreign ministers meeting.

Pointing to a period of high turbulence in global relations, Fidan said, “While the global economy continues to show resilience in the post-pandemic period, the geoeconomic outlook is still weak. We are still facing high inflation. Fragilities persist, and geopolitical tensions may escalate."

Minister Fidan said that the so-called “rules-based international system” falls short of providing balanced and quick solutions in this era.

Emphasizing that in light of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's motto, “the world is bigger than five,” Türkiye has been making efforts to reform the U.N. Security Council, the U.N., and other multilateral organizations, Fidan said, “In this context, we value our cooperation with BRICS. We believe that diversity within BRICS is an important tool to increase development and stability."
