A young man has been arrested after brutally murdering four of his family members in Eyupsultan, Istanbul, in an apparent act of rage. The shocking incident, which occurred in the late evening hours, left the local community stunned.
At approximately 10:30 P.M. on Jan. 30, emergency services were called to a residence on Derin Street, Aksemsettin Neighborhood, Istanbul's Eyupsultan, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of 43-year-old Mehmet Yenigun, his 42-year-old wife Aysun Yenigun, their 13-year-old daughter Zilan Yenigun, and 71-year-old grandmother Fatma Ince. Police and medical teams arrived at the scene shortly after the call, confirming the tragic deaths.
Following an investigation, it was revealed that the murderer was the family's own son, B.Y. The 18-year-old (identified as underage) had fled the scene after shooting and killing his mother, father, sister, and grandmother.
Thanks to intensive police efforts, B.Y. was apprehended in Bursa, located outside of Istanbul, after a manhunt and technical surveillance.
Authorities confirmed that B.Y., still a minor, surrendered to the police upon their arrival and admitted to the horrific crime. His confession has left investigators in shock.
As the victims' bodies were removed from the house, the cries of their relatives filled the air. The bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsies.
