The Defense Forces of Georgia have received a new shipment of Turkish-made multipurpose armored vehicles, Vuran 4x4, manufactured by BMC. The delivery took place during a ceremony on Wednesday at the infantry brigade in Vaziani, near Tbilisi.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Turkish Ambassador Ali Kaan Orbay, Deputy Defense Minister Sergo Janelidze, Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze, ASFAT General Manager Behcet Karatas, and other ASFAT officials.

The first export of the Vuran 4x4 vehicle, developed by Turkish defense firms BMC and ASELSAN, was made to Kosovo. This vehicle has been in the inventory of Turkish security forces and is designed to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

“These vehicles are concrete proof of Türkiye’s support for Georgia’s security and integrity,” Orbay told Anadolu following the ceremony. He highlighted Türkiye’s domestic production capabilities, with up to 80% of the vehicle components being produced locally, and expressed hope for continued cooperation between the two nations.

Janelidze emphasized the significance of the occasion, noting the longstanding successful cooperation in the defense sector between Türkiye and Georgia. “Today marks the day Georgia received NATO-standard armored vehicles from Türkiye,” he said. He added that the transfer not only bolsters Georgia's defense capabilities but also enhances bilateral cooperation.

The delivery of the Vuran 4x4 vehicles is a key development in strengthening Georgia's defense infrastructure and underscores the ongoing partnership between the two countries in the defense field.
