The Meteorological General Directorate has released its 5-day weather report, forecasting significant temperature drops and heavy rainfall across many cities, including Istanbul. The new weather system is expected to start affecting the country from Monday.
According to the forecast, most of the country will experience cloudy and rainy weather, except for Igdir, Van, and Hakkari. The rain is expected to be in the form of showers and thunderstorms, with some areas, including the interior regions of the Eastern Black Sea and the northeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, seeing mixed rain and snow.
The rains in the Thrace and Canakkale regions are expected to be locally heavy, while mist and fog are anticipated in the mornings over the Marmara region, as well as the northern and central parts of the country.
The provincial authorities have warned that from Monday, 7th April, a new cold and rainy air mass will affect Türkiye, starting from the northwest.
The statement added, "Temperatures are expected to drop between 5 and 9 degrees, starting from Monday in the Trakya region. Heavy rain is expected in Istanbul, and on Tuesday, snow mixed with rain may be seen in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova."
