AK Party Deputy Karayel holds positive talks with Spanish MEPs on EU-Türkiye relations

AK Party Istanbul Deputy Ismail Emrah Karayel engages in constructive dialogue with Spanish MEPs, discussing avenues for enhancing EU-Türkiye relations

Turkish-European Union (EU) Joint Parliamentary Committee Co-Chair and AK Party Istanbul Deputy Ismail Emrah Karayel received members of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Group of the European Parliament (EP), Inma Rodriguez-Pinero and Clara Aguilera.

Karayel said that the European Parliament has accepted two Spanish members regarding economy and rural development.

Reminding that there will be elections in the European Parliament this summer, Karayel provided the following information about the meeting, expressing that both sides discussed what can be done to improve both EU-Türkiye relations and Spain-Türkiye relations.

"In this regard, we discussed visa liberalization, updating the Customs Union, and opening new chapters in the negotiation process. Due to my position as the Chairman of the Fisheries Research Commission, we also had the opportunity to evaluate issues related to rural development and fisheries in Turkey. It was a positive meeting both in terms of EU relations and Turkey-Spain relations," he added.
