Galatasaray defeated Fenerbahce 2-1 in a heated quarterfinal clash of the Ziraat Turkish Cup on Wednesday, advancing to the tournament's semi-finals where they will face Konyaspor.
Victor Osimhen was the standout performer for Galatasaray, scoring both goals to seal the victory.
His first came in the 10th minute with a powerful shot from a right-sided angle inside the box, and he later converted a penalty in the 27th minute, awarded after a VAR review showed handball by Fenerbahce defender Filip Kostic.
The match took a chaotic turn in the closing moments as tensions between the two sides erupted into a full-blown altercation.
The scuffle began with an on-field dispute between Mert Muldur and Osimhen, followed by clashes involving players and staff on the sidelines.
Police intervened to restore order, and the referee issued four red cards—Mert Hakan Yandas, Salvatore Foti, Kerem Demirbay, and Baris Alper Yilmaz were sent off for their involvement.
Fenerbahce reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time when Sebastian Szymanski capitalized on a loose ball in the box after Anderson Talisca's effort was parried.
Despite pushing for an equalizer during extended injury time, Fenerbahce's attempts were thwarted by Galatasaray’s resolute defense.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce's Jose Mourinho attacked Galatasaray's head coach Okan Buruk at the end of the match.
Following the final whistle, tempers flared between the coaching staffs. Mourinho approached Buruk on the field and grabbed his nose, causing the Galatasaray coach to lose balance and fall.
The incident further escalated tensions in the already volatile derby. Mourinho was shown a red card for his physical tackle on Buruk.
