Galatasaray Daikin Women's Volleyball Team captain Ilkin Aydin has undergone surgery, the Istanbul-based club announced on April 28, 2025.

Knee and hernia surgeries completed

According to the official statement from the yellow-red club, Aydin had surgical removal of screws from a previous operation on her left knee. Additionally, the 25-year-old outside hitter underwent a successful hernia surgery.

Following the procedures, Ilkin Aydin is expected to take a four-week break from training and competition for full recovery.

"We extend our best wishes to our captain Ilkin Aydin for a speedy recovery," the club stated.

Rising star in Turkish volleyball

Ilkin Aydin is one of the brightest talents in the Turkish women's volleyball scene. Standing at 183 cm and weighing 67 kg, she plays as an outside hitter for both Galatasaray and the Turkish national team, representing Türkiye at the highest level of international competition.

A decorated career for club and country

Aydin has been a part of Galatasaray since 2017, having previously played for Ilbank (2015–16) and TVF Sports High School (2016–17). With Galatasaray, she earned a silver medal in the 2020–21 CEV Women’s Cup and lifted the 2023–24 Balkan Cup.

On the international stage, Aydin was part of the Turkish squad that claimed three major titles in 2023:

  • FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League
  • European Women’s Volleyball Championship
  • Volleyball World Cup

She has also contributed to Türkiye's medal-winning campaigns in:

  • 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games (Gold)
  • 2021 and 2023 European Championships (Bronze and Gold)
  • 2021 FIVB Nations League (Bronze)
  • 2018 and 2022 Mediterranean Games (Bronze and Silver)
