Israeli fighter jets struck the Syrian cities of Damascus and Hama late Wednesday, according to Syrian state news agency SANA.

“An Israeli occupation airstrike targeted the vicinity of the building of the scientific research center in the Barzeh residential district of Damascus,” the agency reported.

In a separate attack, airstrikes targeted the vicinity of Hama city in central Syria.

Israel confirms strikes, 4 killed in Hama

The Israeli army confirmed the airstrikes, stating that it targeted “remaining military capabilities” in Hama and at T4 (Tiyas Airbase) in Homs, as well as several military infrastructures in the Damascus area.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said that "four people were killed and others wounded, including Syrian defence ministry personnel, in the strikes on Hama military airport".

Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, a move that violated a 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.

Israel also launched hundreds of strikes across Syria, targeting military sites, including fighter jets, missile systems, and air defense installations, according to reports.
