Israeli airstrikes killed 96 Palestinian civilians on Sunday morning when they targeted a residential building in the Beit Lahia Project, northern Gaza. 60 Palestinians have been injured, and 15 are missing, according to the latest reports.
Since Oct. 5, Israel has launched a large-scale ground operation in northern Gaza, claiming its goal is to prevent Hamas from regaining strength in the area.
However, Palestinian officials argue that the operation is aimed at forcibly depopulating northern Gaza and establishing a buffer zone.
Israel's devastating offensive in Gaza, which began after a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 last year, has killed over 43,834 people and left the enclave nearly uninhabitable.
The ongoing onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of Gaza amid a severe blockade, resulting in extreme shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
