United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon (UNIFIL) have come under fire from Israeli forces, according to a report from a U.N. official. Over a 24-hour period, Israeli soldiers opened fire on UNIFIL positions in three separate incidents in southern Lebanon.

The report indicates that an Israeli tank targeted a surveillance tower located at UNIFIL's main base in Nakura. As a result of the tank fire, two peacekeeping soldiers sustained minor injuries.

UNIFIL released a statement confirming that its headquarters and nearby positions in southern Lebanon were repeatedly struck due to crossfire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.

This escalation raises concerns about the safety of peacekeeping forces in the region and highlights ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
