Istanbul’s reputation as a luxury wedding destination was highlighted this weekend with an extravagant event hosted by two prominent Indonesian families.
The lavish wedding on Bosphorus, united Adelle Odelia Tanuri, daughter of Bali United Football Club owner Pieter Tanuri, and Phillip Tjipto, son of Haryanto Tjiptodihardjo, a business mogul with a fortune of approximately $1.2 billion, according to Forbes.
Planning began a year in advance, with no expense spared. Organized by Turkish event companies, the wedding reportedly cost nearly $3 million. The lavish celebration took place at one of Istanbul’s top hotels overlooking the Bosphorus.
Nearly 500 guests from around the world attended, flying in from regions as far as East Asia, Europe and North America. Special touches included floral arrangements featuring burgundy and purple hydrangeas, pink roses and a special wedding area decorated with white roses along the Bosphorus.
