Elton John clinches Emmy, achieves EGOT status

At the 75th Emmy Awards, Elton John became the 19th person to achieve EGOT status, having secured an Emmy to complement his previous wins in the Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards

On Jan. 15, at the 75th Emmy Awards, the 76-year-old Elton John secured his first Emmy Award for "Elton John Live," marking his status as the 19th person to achieve EGOT status –  the group of celebrities who have an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.

Comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey presented the award to the artist for the movie "Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium." It was presented to the artist by comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. "I can't speak for Elton, but EGOT should be excited about this," Poehler said.

Elton John has previously won five Grammys, two Oscars for The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and Rocketman's "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" and a Tony for the score to the musical Aida.
