Ankara Air Traffic Control Center (ACC) reported that this density placed Turkish airspace as the third busiest in Europe for the day.
Maastricht in the Netherlands ranked first, followed by Madrid in Spain.
This achievement underscores the Ankara ACC's success in surpassing major airspace hubs with the 5,573 flights handled. The extensive use of Turkish airspace highlights Türkiye's strategic importance in the aviation sector once again.
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which began in 2022 and continues, resulted in the closure of Ukrainian airspace, directing operators to Turkish airspace and contributing to increased revenue.
Additionally, robust domestic demand in Türkiye, supported by solid infrastructure and a dynamic workforce, has managed the process successfully and paved the way for this record achievement.
Türkiye's geopolitical position and implemented measures have made its airspace a crucial corridor, especially for east-west air traffic, resulting in a significant increase in the number of service units. Last year, Türkiye ranked second in demand for airspace access.
